Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork

Introductory Customized Massage   (60 min/$55)

Are you shopping for the right massage therapist? Or, are you baffled by the myriad of massage treatments available at spas? If so, then our "Introductory Customized Massage" is the way to choose the therapist and bodywork technique best suited for your needs.

At the Spa at Texas Healing Arts, we believe that the perfect massage is the balanced combination of therapist-client chemistry and the therapist skill set. For most people, massage therapy is this wondrous blend of science and art. During the introductory massage, your therapist will create a massage plan just for your needs based on a personalized intake process. After the massage, your therapist will review the style of bodywork you received so that you can choose from our regular spa menu for your next visit. If you choose to continue therapist shopping, then feel free to book our "Introductory Customized Massage" with another THAI therapist.

If you prefer, you may also choose our organic massage lotion or cream instead of oil. Steaming hot towels will be applied to your feet, hands, or face at the end of this massage. You may want to add on a hot pack, Peppermint Tootsie, dry body brushing, or a ginger compress to make this massage an extra treat.

Your therapist will work with your needs and comfort level to design a massage to help you eliminate your aches and pains. Your session may include a combination of postural assessment, range of motion and muscle strength testing, and deep tissue techniques of myofascial release, trigger point work, & therapeutic stretching. If you and your therapist decide you need hot packs or ice treatments for these sessions, they are gratis. Please arrive early to complete intake forms.

Clinical Massage Therapy aka Pain Relief Massage  (60 minutes/$95; 90 min/$135; 120 min/$160)

Are you looking for some relief from acute or chronic discomfort or pain? Look no further. What is the difference between a Focused Deep Tissue and a "Pain Relief Massage"? Your therapist's training is the biggest difference. The therapists trained in Clinical Massage Therapy (CMT) have been through at least a year of training in advanced bodywork. Clinical Massage Therapy (CMT) incorporates Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Acupressure, and other advanced massage techniques to relieve pain and increase range of motion. CMT helps to resolve problems related to pain conditions, chronic postural dysfunction, decreased range of motion, repetitive use injuries, and other specific muscular pathologies. You will not receive a full body massage, instead your massage will be focused on the areas causing the discomfort. Your CMT therapist is trained to customize this profoundly healing work for your needs. Additionally, as determined by your needs and your therapist, hot or cold packs are complimentary parts of the session.

Massage for Shoulder and Upper Back
Massage for Forearm and Hand Pain
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Massage

Deep Muscle Stimulator (DMS)  (30 minutes/$60; 60 minutes/$95; 90 min/$135)

The DMS is a hand-held electric massage device that provides deep, repetitive, vibration and percussion to soft tissue. DMS massage targets and releases painful myofacial trigger points and adhesions quickly and comfortably, thereby increasing range of motion. For clients who have a low threshold of discomfort or pain when receiving deep tissue work, yet still need the deeper work, this may be the massage for you.
The DMS can:
* Increase circulation
* Reduce pain
* Speed up rehabilitation from injury
* Increase lymphatic flow
* Breakup muscular scar tissue
* Reduce lactic acid buildup
* Aid tissue regeneration
* Facilitate soft tissue release
The DMS can be used in effective management of acute and chronic pain, including: migraine headaches, sciatica, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, bursitis, edema, myofascial pain and frozen joint, and a host of other painful conditions. If you have any questions, please consult with your therapist.

Sports Massage  (30 min/$50; 60 min/$80; 90 min/$120)

Sports Massage is a therapeutic form of bodywork which enhances athletic performance. Many people receive sports massage to relieve muscle pain and stiffness and to speed up their recovery after vigorous training sessions and competitions. Others enjoy sports massage in order to increase their energy and stamina or as part of their regular maintenance regimen. For the active athlete wanting to reach optimum health and peak performance, we suggest weekly or bi-weekly sessions lasting 30 to 60 minutes. Sports massage is also beneficial as a post-rehab treatment when injury has occurred. Whatever your need for sports massage, your therapist will be happy to recommend a treatment plan that works for you.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture  (New Patients and Returning Patients: $75)

Developed over thousands of years, acupuncture uses very thin needles (sterile and disposable) at specific points on the body to help the body heal from injury, illness, or other acute or chronic imbalances. The points are on energetic channels that run along the skin and connect to internal organs. The needles are so thin that they do not elicit pain like hypodermic needles do. There are many different acupuncture methods, and Becky uses ones that involve fewer needles than other types.

Pediatric Treatments for Children Aged 12 and Under   (New and Returning Patients: $40)

Children respond very well to Asian medicine. Those who are old enough and comfortable with the idea of acupuncture receive a small amount of needling. For infants and young children, Becky uses a Japanese style of treatment called Sho Ni Shin (pronounced show-nee-shin) that involves the gentle rubbing, scrapping, and tapping of the skin with different non-insertion tools. Sometimes children are also prescribed Chinese herbs in lower doses than those for adults.

Facial Rejuvenation   (Initial Treatment: $100; Return Treatments: $100; Recommended course of Treatment: $975/10 sessions)

Acupuncture is a natural and safe way to reduce wrinkles, increase facial tone, and bring a healthy glow back to a face without the use of surgery or injections. A treatment consists of a relaxing facial massage, facial needling, and some body needles. The whole body is treated because the skin and face reflect the health of the body. A course of 10 treatments is suggested for optimal results.

Medical Qi Gong   (New and Returning Patients: $75)

Medical Qi Gong is a type of energy work that involves using Qi, sometimes translated as "life energy," from our environment to heal and balance the patient's body and mind. Becky moves her hands over the patient's body often without touching it and sometimes with light touch for more concentrated healing. This is a very relaxing treatment and a good alternative for those patients who are not yet ready to experience needling.

Cupping for Muscle Pain   (New and Returning Patients: $75)

Cupping is a technique that uses small glass or plastic cups suctioned to the skin in place or moved along the skin with oil in order to loosen tight muscles. It is commonly used for acute neck, shoulder, and back pain due to tight muscles. It may or may not be appropriate for chronic pain. A treatment consists of some needling followed by cupping on the affected area. If the practitioner determines that cupping is not an appropriate treatment for a patient's pain, a regular acupuncture treatment will be done instead.

Disclaimer: Please be aware that cupping often leaves some reddish or purple marks on the skin; these usually disappear within a few days to a week.

Gua Sha or Cupping for Common Cold   ($75)

Feeling that tickle in the back of your throat or that bit of runny nose that you know is the beginning of a cold? Gua sha or cupping can ease your suffering. Gua sha is a technique that uses the smoothed edge of an instrument to scrape a patient's neck and back, which have been prepared with oil. Cupping uses small glass or plastic cups suctioned to the skin in place or moved along the skin with oil. When one is sick with a cold or flu, these techniques brings red or purple spots to the surface of the skin, and they help release the toxins and pathogens from the body. This can significantly shorten the duration of a cold if done in the early stages.

Disclaimer: Please be aware that cupping often leaves some reddish or purple marks on the skin; these usually disappear within a few days to a week.

Add-On: Tuina   (10 mins/$15)

Do you hold all your tension in your neck and shoulders? Ever wondered what a head and face Chinese massage feels like? Add 10 minutes of Tuina (Chinese medical massage) to your acupuncture treatment for a relaxing end to your session.

After she has finished the treatment, she will let you know which of the facials on our menu you should book the next time you want to experience the delights of our little slice of heaven on earth. This is an introductory service and you may use it only once.

Non-surgical Facelift and Bodysculpting Services

Microcurrent Non-Surgical Face Lift   (Face 60 min/$125; 12 sessions/$1125)

A microcurrent face lift, or non-surgical face lift, is a safe, painless, non-invasive cosmetic treatment used to enhance the healthy condition and young appearance of skin, and improve the tonus of facial muscles. Microcurrent smooths and eliminates fine lines and wrinkles, improves muscle tone, lifts eyebrows and jowls, and increases vascular circulation. There is no anesthesia, no incisions, no recovery time due to surgery, and most important, no pain is associated with the treatment. Microcurrent body sculpting is perfomed on the chest, breasts, arms, stomach, thighs or hips. Due to the larger areas of the body being treated, the sessions are longer in duration.

Spa Treatments Inspired from the Garden

Herbal Aromatherapy Massage  (60 minutes/$80; 90 min/$120)

Choose one of our custom aromatherapy blends and one or two fresh herbs from our gardens to be applied during a soothing, therapeutic full body massage. An aromatherapy inhalation completes your session inviting deeper breath, while calming your spirit.

Aromatherapy Hot Stone Massage  (90 min/$120)

Hot stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt lava stones to key points on the body, creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with a typical relaxation massage. The stones are used in combination with Swedish massage strokes and our "Meditation" blend massage oil.

Ginger Detox Back Massage  (60 min/$90)

Calm your aching back with this penetrating compress made with fresh, organic ginger, applied beneath soothing hot packs. This treatment is finished with a relaxing back massage, performed to your pressure comfort level. After your session, enjoy a cup of ginger tea, which warms and detoxifies from the inside out!

Cocoa or Shea Butter Massage & Wrap   (90 min/$120)

Choose your silky butter for a treatment that includes a whole body massage with warm, nourishing, and moisturizing butter. For the last 20 minutes of your session you will relax with a scalp massage and a hot pack on your abdomen for a warm, snuggly body wrap, which opens pores and enhances the penetration of the butter deeper into your tissues.

The Whole Shebang Salt Scrub & Massage   (60 min/$80)

First, choose an herb from our gardens and an aromatherapy oil to be blended with finely ground Dead Sea salts. Then, relax while you are scrubbed from neck to toe, as the salt gently exfoliates your skin and balances fluid retention. After showering, you'll head back to the treatment room for a balancing acupressure session.

Add-On Services

Our Add-ons have been chosen for their health benefits and because they just plain feel great! Add-ons can be added to almost all of our therapeutic massage treatments and many of our spa treatments. If you are unsure about adding on, ask your therapist or the front desk for assistance.

Organic Mini-Facial  (30 min/$45)

Treat your face to our very own organic Mini-Facial, performed by massage therapists trained to relax your overstressed facial muscles. We feature suki's Advanced Organic Science line of facial products, which gently balance and revitalize your skin. Begin this delightful facial with a deep cleanse, followed by steaming towels that prepare you for a light clay mask of your choice. Next, relax and rejuvenate your over-tightened or under-toned muscles of expression with a finishing moisturizing massage that leaves you feeling toned and glowing. Our facial treatments do not include skin analysis or extractions. For complex skin concerns, please consult an aesthetician. suki's Advanced Organic Science facial products are available for purchase at the front desk. suki's products are 100% natural, cruelty-free, and do not contain petrochemicals or synthetics.

Petal & Spice Massage: Head, Neck & Face  (30 min/$40)

This massage focuses on the tense areas of your head, neck, and face, using our Petal & Spice Oil, custom blended to nourish the face, scalp, and hair (if desired). An aromatherapy inhalation is included as well, to open sinuses and promote deep breathing.

Hot Pack / $7

Our hot packs are kept in 160°F water, and then wrapped in insulated terry cloth envelopes to deliver a soothing, strong, penetrating heat for over 30 minutes. Heat dilates the blood vessels and activates the movement of stagnated fluids. It also melts or softens mucus stagnations and fatty accumulations and breaks up mineral crystallizations. Hot packs are good to use on areas of muscle tension to warm up muscles, allowing more ease when receiving deep tissue work. The oversized packs, applied to the back or tummy are wonderful to use when you need to "open up your breathing."

Cold Pack / $7

Cold works just the opposite of heat. It contracts the blood flow and restricts the inflammation process. We recommend a cold pack added on to any Focused Deep Tissue work or Pain Relief Massage as a measure to prevent the next day feelings of tenderness that some clients experience.

Exfoliating & Lymphatic Dry Brushing / $10

Dry body brushing - also called skin brushing - is one of the best ways to care for your skin. It helps to break up fatty deposits, aids in lymphatic drainage and detoxification, and stimulates circulation on top of the basic exfoliation. Body brushing should be part of your detoxification and slimming treatments. The gentle massaging motion of the bristles has a beneficial effect on areas of cellulite, and it is an effective treatment for helping to eliminate toxins from the body, leaving you with smooth glowing skin.

Castor Oil Compress & Hot Pack / $10

Castor oil is derived from the bean of the Ricinus communis or Palma Christi plant (Palm of Christ). The Palma Christi has been used therapeutically for centuries in the folk medicine of ancient India, China, Persia, Africa, Greece, Rome, and the Americas. Research has shown that castor oil has a unique chemical profile rich in ricinoleic acid, which is known to increase lymphocyte production and T-cell lymphocytes activity, thus boosting the immune system. Some of the numerous uses of castor oil include the treatment of breast cysts, fibroids, ovarian cysts, congestion of abdominal organs, skin conditions, small benign cysts, and adhesions from surgery. Wherever there is congestion, decreased blood flow and the need for healing, castor oil can be an effective treatment.

Fresh Organic Ginger Compress & Hot Pack / $10

Ginger is a wonderfully warming root. As a tea, ginger is used to aid and soothe digestion and calm gas. It also is ingested for motion and morning sickness. As a compress, ginger stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation in an area of stagnation. You may experience stagnation as pain, inflammation, swelling, stiffness, or mucus and fat accumulation. Ginger penetrates the tissues to loosen, dissolve, and disperse stagnation, leaving the tissues cleansed and nourished with fresh blood, which softens and revitalizes the body.

Hot Tub Soak  (20 min/$10)

Our outdoor hot tub is waiting to immerse your entire body in total relaxation. Enjoy the massaging jets or just soak in quiet contemplation under the majesty of the pecan canopy. Please use our outdoor showers before entering the tub. Swimming suits and rubber duckies are suggested. There's nuttin' like a tubbin' before a massage!

30 More Minutes  (30 min/$40)

Add thirty minutes to any massage.

Analgesic Cold Treatment for Waxing  ($10)

sukíspa Eye Lift   (15 min/$25)

This intensive treatment protects, plumps, & hydrates the fragile skin around the eyes while reducing puffiness, crow’s feet and dark circles. Carrot & rose hip oils infuse the delicate tissues with vitamins a, e & beta carotene, filling lines & wrinkles while making skin stronger & firmer.

Microdermabrasion  (15min/$40)

Add 15 minutes of microdermabrasion to an esthetics service.

Sauna  (20 min/$10)

Add a deeply penetrating sauna session to your massage. Elevated temperature heat treatments raise your internal temperature and increase your heart rate. Your health is our first concern, so please bring a physicians note, if you have a health condition that might contra-indicate heat treatments. If you are unsure, consult with your physician.

Two Peas in a Pod  (Call for Appt./$20)

This is perfect for those who want to have a special treat with a friend or loved one. Book two massage sessions at the same time, and enjoy them in the same room, side-by-side with this add on. This is a great option for gifts and special occasions, or just for a different spa experience!

Mini-Sessions

A Mini-Session is a 30-minute session. We offer many of our massages, spa treatments, and Add-Ons as Mini-Sessions. Descriptions of our most popular Mini-Sessions follow. You may receive any of our Add-Ons as Mini-Sessions for an additional fee. DMS is not offered as a Mini-Sessions treatment.

Kinesio Taping   (15 min/$25; Additional areas $10 Each)

Kinesio taping helps to alleviate pain and facilitate lymphatic drainage by lifting and pulling the skin. The taped area forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space. The result is that pressure and irritation are taken off the neural and sensory receptors, alleviating pain. Pressure is gradually taken off the lymphatic system, allowing it to drain more freely. Kinesio tape can be applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused or tired muscles, and support muscles in movement on a 24-hour a day basis. The tape is not restrictive and allows for full range of motion. Kinesio tape is used to treat anything from headaches to foot problems and everything in between. Some examples include carpel tunnel syndrome, low back pain, knee and shoulder conditions and rehabilitation from sports injuries.
Price is $25.00 to tape a body part. Additional areas would cost $10.00 an area. For example, taping both the shoulder and arm would be $25.00 +$10.00. Or, another example is hamstring, IT band, and knee, it would be $25.00 + $10.00 + $10.00. The tape will last 3-5 days on your body. This is very economical for pain relief.
Kinesio tape is made of 100% high grade cotton, it is hypoallergenic, latex free, durable, and economical.

Sauna   (20 min/$40)

The Spa and Wellness Center's sauna is a free standing barrel sauna made from western red cedar. The barrel design allows for more airflow and steam throughout the structure. The deep penetrating heat provides relief from pain and arthritis and revives tired or strained muscles. Perspiration promotes healthy glowing skin and a clear complexion. The heated steam can be aromatically infused with eucalyptus essential oil and is an excellent therapy for respiratory allergies and related issues. Your attendant will prepare the sauna, guide you through the use of the sauna, and provide you with towels, robe, water, and essential oils.

Hot Pack / (30 min/$40)

Cold Pack / (30 min/$40)

Cold works just the opposite of heat. It contracts the blood flow and restricts the inflammation process. We recommend a cold pack added on to any Focused Deep Tissue work or Pain Relief Massage as a measure to prevent the next day feelings of tenderness that some clients experience.

Exfoliating & Lymphatic Dry Brushing / (30 min/$40)

Dry body brushing - also called skin brushing - is one of the best ways to care for your skin. It helps to break up fatty deposits, aids in lymphatic drainage and detoxification, and stimulates circulation on top of the basic exfoliation. Body brushing should be part of your detoxification and slimming treatments. The gentle massaging motion of the bristles has a beneficial effect on areas of cellulite, and it is an effective treatment for helping to eliminate toxins from the body, leaving you with smooth glowing skin.

Castor Oil Compress & Hot Pack / (30 min/$40)

Fresh Organic Ginger Compress & Hot Pack / (30 min/$40)

Ginger is a wonderfully warming root. As a tea, ginger is used to aid and soothe digestion and calm gas. It also is ingested for motion and morning sickness. As a compress, ginger stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation in an area of stagnation. You may experience stagnation as pain, inflammation, swelling, stiffness, or mucus and fat accumulation. Ginger penetrates the tissues to loosen, dissolve, and disperse stagnation, leaving the tissues cleansed and nourished with fresh blood, which softens and revitalizes the body.
